Construction Plans on Your iPad?

This isn’t quite my area, but I read a fascinating review of an app and method to put construction plans on your mobile device.  The app has an easy zoom feature, so the small screen of an iPad relative to the large nature of jobsite plans is not an issue.  One can also add photos to the plans as the jobsite continues.  A very robust app.

Interested in Mobile Apps for Construction?

This have held a special interest for me.  Although many deal with safety, there are others that deal with construction in depth.  These include transferring of daily logs and other forms to a mobile environment, and even having all construction plans on tablets.  These apps help to streamline operations and allow one to more effectively, and more quickly communicate issues faster, cheaper, and more effectively with the office.

Unfortunately, I am not as familiar with them as I should be.  I did discover a great resource that goes over this information, reviews, and assists with how to use these apps.  This person is the Construction App Guru.

So if you interested in learning about apps and mobile devices that can be used on construction projects? Could your company use some advice on how to move from paper based workflows to electronic workflows? Would you read interviews with industry leaders in the development world?

IAuditor – iOS and Android

Free must have safety app – create your own forms easily, then use them on the job, construction site, wherever.

Also has a library where you can upload forms, or download others. These will include thousands of different forms, including DOT, scaffold, construction, etc. Photos can be added to any entry, so documentation will be complete.

Once a form is complete, it can be emailed to email lists. The app will add a cover sheet, disclaimer, and table of contents automatically.

The app is free, but offers upgrades for a fee to produce results in various different formats.

Free! OSHA 1910 and 1926 App

Special thanks to commenter Seth, who alerted me to this app. Completely free, that has 1910 and 1926. I currently do not know if this is available for Android.

The app downloads the regs (about 32 meg), so it can be used without a connection.

Note – it has worked on my iPhone 5 but there are issues on my iPad. I will update if I learn anything. Also, if anyone knows if this is on Android, let me know and I will update this post.
